Recommended Travel Plan

Once you get the Japan Rail Pass at Narita airport, let's get on the Narita Express (N'EX). It takes approximately one hour from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station. It also stops at Shinagawa Sta., Shibuya Sta., Shinjuku Sta. and so on.

After doing the sights of tourist attractions such as Tokyo Tower as the symbol of Tokyo, Asakusa that is famous for Sensō-ji Temple, Meiji Jingū (shrine), located right next to Harajuku, then it is time for dinner. In Tokyo, where you can enjoy all genres of restaurants, let's enjoy a great evening and nightlife in Japan.

Leaving Tokyo station for the Kansai region by the Tōkaidō Shinkansen . On the way to the area - between Mishima station and Shizuoka station - you can see beautiful Mt. Fuji through a window on the train.First of all, why not visit Kyoto?

Kyoto has a great tradition you will enjoy. You can rent and wear a kimono and walk around Kyoto, you will be able to take unforgettable pictures. A night in "Gion" where Japanese ancient wooden houses are lined up is very fantastic. There are also shrines and temples that provide illumination in the season of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.

Let's enjoy World Heritage tours and town walks to see fantastic touring attractions such as Fushimi-Inari Taisha Shrine, Kinkaku-ji temple, Kiyomizu-dera temple and Arashiyama on the second day of Kyoto.

For those who like a rustic atmosphere, Nara is also recommended, which can be reached in about 40 minutes from Kyoto. Tōdaiji Temple with the biggest Buddha in Japan and deers of Nara Park are famous. The deers in Nara Park are wild, but because they have been cherished as apostles of God, they get used to humans very much and will approach you with the expectation to get food.

It would be nice to take a short trip to Himeji Castle this day. This purely white castle is one of the most beautiful castles in Japan and it is worth visiting even if you ride the bullet train. From Kyoto you can go to Himeji in about 50 minutes.

After enjoying Himeji Castle, let's go back a bit on the bullet train and stay in Osaka. Osaka, which was once a commercial city, has a completely different atmosphere from Kyoto. There are many inexpensive and delicious foods, and it is lively late at night, so you can enjoy a nightlife.

Let's go to Osaka sightseeing spots, Osaka Castle or Dōtonbori. There is a lot of interesting symbols such as the sign and object of big crabs and puppet dolls in the city and you will enjoy just walking around the area. It may be also good to go to Universal Studios Japan.

Well, it has been already in the second half of the trip. Let's leave the Kansai region and return to Tokyo. But on the way back to Tokyo, why not drop by the Hokuriku region a little bi? From Osaka to Kanazawa, the center of Hokuriku, it takes about 3 hours by the limited express Thunderbird. There are good onsens (hot springs) near Kanazawa.

The most famous in Kanazawa is Kenrokuen. Although it is a beautiful garden in every season, especially ""Yukituri"" in winter that protects trees from snow is impressive . The Ōmichō market where fish and crabs from the Sea of Japan are sold will also be fun. You can also eat fresh sushi and a seafood bowl there. In addition, traditional crafts with lacquer and gold leaf are must-see things in Kanazawa.

It is also highly recommended to go by bus from Kanazawa to Shirakawagō that is a World Heritage Site (Japan Rail Pass can not be used).

It takes about 2 hours 30 minutes from Kanazawa to Tokyo by the Hokuriku Shinkansen. A vast shopping district spreads out in the basement of Tokyo station. There are many souvenirs such as a Japanese confectionery and character goods. There is also an area called "Tokyo Ramen Street" where famous ramen shops are lined up. If you have time, you may want to shop or eat at Ginza (Yūrakuchō) next to Tokyo station.

Enjoy the last-minute shopping and gourmet food, and let 's take the Narita Express to Narita Airport.
